As usual, there are heaps of events in Llangollen this year. We’re sad that panto season has just wrapped up after five fantastic performances of Dick Whittington but there’s plenty more events lined up to entertain you in Llangollen throughout the year.
Cinema
This January, The New Dot Cinema, which was successfully revived in 2025, brings you The Barbie Movie. If any movie can help you conquer the winter blues, it’s Barbie. With is over-the-top, bright pink visuals, upbeat humour and positive messaging, you’re bound to leave the Town Hall with a spring in your step and smile on your face! And it’s not just Barbie, the team at New Dot Cinema is lining up an eclectic mix of movies to take us right through 2026! Check out their website for tickets and the latest movie news!
Live Music
Local venues across town will be hosting a range of live music and open mics to see us through winter and keep us entertained throughout the year. Venues including Gales Wine Bar (which has recently invested in upgrading its outdoor area to offer more events year round,) The Sun and The Bridge End. Stay tuned to our event listings to get the latest on what’s on, when and where!
Musical Theatre
If musical theatre is your thing, then you’re in for a treat next month when the Llangollen Young Uns (the junior arm of the Llangollen Operatic Society) will be bringing Disney’s classic Little Mermaid to the Town Hall stage. There will be four performances between February 26th -28th, including a Saturday matinee.
In April the senior Llangollen Operatic Society brings us ‘Great British Bake Off the Musical’. The Musical transforms this beloved TV show into a lively and humorous stage production with original songs and some familiar characters! We know it’s sure to be a hit with Llangollen audiences! This year will also see two more productions from the North Wales Opera Company. Firstly, on 13th May audiences can enjoy Verdi’s Rigoletto which combines familiar music with the gripping story of a jester whose daughter is betrayed by a cruel duke. And in December they will bring the well known story of Madama Butterfly to the Llangollen stage! Tickets are available to buy tickets for both shows from as little as £11
As well as these two full operas, The North Wales Opera Company and Studio is set to delight audiences in the Llangollen Town Hall on 14th March with ‘A night at the Opera’ showcasing well-known opera pieces from Verdi, Puccini, Mozart and more!

Of course, summer will bring us the Llangollen International Eisteddfod along with a raft of headline concerts. The core Eisteddfod week takes place from Tuesday 7th – Sunday 11th July. It kicks of with the Uniting Nations: One World concert conducted by Sir Karl Jenkins and ends with the prestigious Pavorotti Choir Of the World Competition on Sunday evening. During the week there’s something for everyone with daily competitions in music and dance, evening concerts from Emeli Sande and Michael Ball and, of course the colourful parade of nations through the town! The weeks following the Eisteddfod will bring more events to the town with the Llangollen Fringe Festival and we look forward to bringing you more info on the Fringe in due course!
TKMaxx Live Concerts
In the run up to Eisteddfod week, the Eisteddfod Pavilion will play host to a fantastic line up of concerts including: Rick Astley, Pete Tong, David Gray, Billy Ocean, Alex James, The Super Fury Animals, Bowling For Soup, Deacon Blue, and Tom Grennan. Tickets are still available for all these concerts

There are plenty of other events throughout the year and we will be doing regular features and write ups on these throughout the year. They include events such as Wales Horror Con in May, the Legendary Llangollen Faery Festival and the Peregrine Circus in August, The Cogwarts Steampunk Extravaganza in September, to name a few.
